< Back Mustang Challenge Mid-Ohio Race 2 Results & Quotes IMSA Jun 9, 2024 JEREMY FLETCHER, No. 22 McCumbee McAleer Ford Mustang Dark Horse R (DH) – “I can’t thank the guys on the radio enough, encouraging me to keep my head on from the start. I picked them off one-by-one, and we found ourselves in a good position. The McCumbee McAleer Ford Mustang Dark Horse R was on absolute rails. I felt a lot more confident today, which allowed us to pick them off. I can’t thank my sponsors enough: The Holster Store, Home Decor and More, Home Restoration Exchange and everyone who made this possible. I definitely love the ladder system. Ford Performance has drivers all the way up to the Mustang GT3 program, so I’m definitely hoping that I can capitalize on our opportunities here – for the future.” Previous Next

  • Championship in Play as Mazda MX-5 Cup Returns to Mid-Ohio | Jeremy Fletcher Raci

< Back Championship in Play as Mazda MX-5 Cup Returns to Mid-Ohio Speedway Media Jun 3, 2024 LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 3, 2024) The Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin never ceases to surprise. Now at the halfway point of the season, the series has yet to have a repeat race winner and the championship point leader has changed with each round. Rounds Seven and Eight at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course could disrupt these trends and put the spotlight on a 2024 championship favorite. The Mid-Ohio weekend marks the return of Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup to the 2.258-mile natural terrain road course after not being part of the 2023 season schedule. Since then, the track has new pavement and the cars now race on Michelin tires. That could make it a level playing field for those who have not been to the circuit before. JTR Motorsports Engineering is flying high after the last two rounds of the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Coming into that weekend, JTR had yet to put a driver on the podium. Leaving Laguna Seca, however, the Indiana-based team locked out the top two positions in the points, thanks to wins from Jared Thomas (No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering) and Aaron Jeansonne (No. 24 JTR Motorsports Engineering). Not only that, but the team’s rookie driver, Nathan Nicholson (No. 56 JTR Motorsports Engineering) captured his first two career podiums and moved up to fifth in the point standings, the highest of the rookie class. Nipping at JTR’s heels are the drivers of McCumbee McAleer Racing. Jeremy Fletcher (No. 22 McCumbe McAleer Racing) and Nate Cicero (No. 83 McCumbee McAleer Racing), who each took a third-place finish in Monterey. Their teammate Gresham Wagner (No. 5 McCumbee McAleer Racing) has more wins at Mid-Ohio than any other driver entered, with two (2020 and 2022). That could be because it’s his favorite track. “It’s a really old-school type track,” Wagner said. “To be fair, most of the tracks we go to have their own unique characteristics that make them tricky or require some finesse. It’s the strongest at Mid-Ohio, that element of finesse and precision that it requires. It has a little bit of everything: high-speed back straight, it’s got a tight little arena section, it’s flowing and hilly. It’s a dream track. For cars that race like we do, it’s the perfect little bullring with a few passing opportunities.” Mid-Ohio will mark the return of Connor Zilisch (No. 72 BSI Racing) who missed Rounds Five and Six due to a scheduling conflict with his ARCA commitments. When the young phenom last raced MX-5 Cup at Mid-Ohio, he was a rookie and had a weekend to forget. He may not be in the championship hunt, but Zilisch is capable of mixing it up at the front of the field and is eager to get his first MX-5 Cup win of the season after missing out on a victory at Sebring by all of .001-seconds. The largest cheering section of the weekend undoubtably goes to local driver Woody Heimann (No. 82 JTR Motorsports Engineering). The Ohio native is in his fourth season of MX-5 Cup. Living just an hour away, Heimann has been coming to Mid-Ohio since he was a kid and started his racing career here, albeit on two wheels instead of four. “I’ve raced motorcycles, bicycles and now cars at Mid-Ohio,” Heimann said. “My first time there was 1996 as a spectator and my first time there on two wheels was 2001 at a track day. My first race was spring of 2003, on two-wheels. I’m celebrating 21 years of motorsports at Mid-Ohio! “Mid-Ohio is a great road course,” he added. “I feel like half the paddock would say it’s their favorite track. It’s a drivers’ course. It’s not a drafting track. The draft doesn’t matter much and if you can wheel the car well, then you’ll do good. Having raced a season (2023) that didn’t go to Mid-Ohio, it makes me appreciate it that much more now that we’re going back.” Heimann is correct, many drivers on the MX-5 Cup grid list Mid-Ohio as their favorite track. Will we have our first repeat winner of the season, or will the championship leader double down on his points margin? Will hometown heroes rise to the top and make it to the podium or could a talented rookie get their first-ever win? These questions and more will be answered in MX-5 Cup Rounds Seven and Eight at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Race 1 will go green at 3:25pm ET on Saturday, June 8. Race 2 will take place Sunday, June 9, at 10:25am ET. Both races will be streamed live on RACER.com and IMSA.tv . • Mazda MX-5 Cup Race Win Gives Fletcher VIR Weekend Sweep | Jeremy Fletcher Raci

< Back Mazda MX-5 Cup Race Win Gives Fletcher VIR Weekend Sweep IMSA Aug 25, 2025 McCumbee McAleer Driver Takes Points Lead with Two Races Left in 2024 Race 2 Results ALTON, Va. – After a thrilling drive from last to first in Saturday’s Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin race, Jeremy Fletcher (No. 22 McCumbee McAleer Racing) followed it up with a photo-finish win on Sunday. Fletcher was joined on the podium by teammate Gresham Wagner (No. 5 McCumbee McAleer Racing) in second, while Jared Thomas (No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering) climbed from last on the grid to third at the checkered flag. Unlike Saturday’s race, Fletcher’s race started as strong as it finished. He was able to hook up with his MMR teammates Nate Cicero (No. 83 McCumbee McAleer Racing) and Wagner, and the trio worked together to pull away. They had a six-second gap to the rest of the field when a full-course caution came out for a car stopped on course, erasing their advantage. “I was super thankful for the guys,” Fletcher said. “I think we all worked pretty good together and created that gap. We knew we had pace. The caution was kind of heartbreaking, but kind of expected in these races with how tight it is. I was still confident. I knew my car had pace. I knew we had pace as a team, and I figured we could conquer everyone else as a team and get it done.” While they were unable to replicate their breakaway, especially with a second full-course caution coming shortly thereafter, the MMR teammates continued to be a force at the front of the field. It wasn’t until three laps to go that two non-MMR cars pushed each other to the front. Previous Next

  • FLETCHER JOINS COPELAND MOTORSPORTS FOR THE 2023 SEASON | Jeremy Fletcher Raci

< Back FLETCHER JOINS COPELAND MOTORSPORTS FOR THE 2023 SEASON Mazda MX-5 Cup Jan 5, 2023 FLETCHER TO MX-5 CUP Moving from karting to cars late in 2022, national-level kart racer and multi-time karting champion Jeremy Fletcher is set for his Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich debut later this month. Set to take on the high banks of the famed Daytona International Speedway, Fletcher will enter the event as an accomplished karter and a promising MX-5 Cup rookie. “Jeremy may have the rookie designation behind his name, but he is far from it,” expressed Dean Copeland. “Jeremy has performed very well in pre-season testing, so much so that they chose to skip the previously planned Spec Miata program and go straight into the national series. With a colorful resume, drive to succeed and pure pace, I would be surprised if Jeremy was not in the Rookie of the Year hunt at the end of the 2023 season.” “I am excited to make the full-time move to cars and with a program such as Copeland Motorsports,” explained Jeremy Fletcher. “They have trained and advanced a lot of my former karting teammates, and I can’t wait to follow in their footsteps. I grew up watching guys like Tyler Gonzalez, Tyler Maxson and Max Opalski and now I get to race in the same team as them.” Jeremy Fletcher’s results speak volumes of his drive and determination on the track. A winner and champion in the cadet ranks of karting, Fletcher advanced to the junior ranks with ease continuing his winning ways. 2022 has seen another jump in categories as he moved to the senior categories, the upper echelon of karting in North America. Showing his speed early and often, Fletcher has been a force in every race weekend earning multiple race wins on the national stage. Copeland continued, “Jeremy is a winner, and he has proven that throughout his karting career. We think we can help him be a winner in cars as well. He will have great teammates to work with and I am confident in a powerful program.” Stay tuned for additional Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich driver announcements coming from Copeland Motorsports. • eKartingNews.com Driver of the Month: December 2021 – Jeremy Fletcher | Jeremy Fletcher Raci

< Back eKartingNews.com Driver of the Month: December 2021 – Jeremy Fletcher Ekartingnews Jan 18, 2021 Florida driver becomes second ever to win twice on SuperSunday at SKUSA SuperNationals 24 Jeremy Fletcher was named EKN Driver of the Month for December 2021 after three wins on the month at two events In a continued effort to highlight the many outstanding performances by drivers around the country, eKartingNews.com is proud to introduce the ‘Driver of the Month’ program. Each month, the staff at EKN will determine the one driver who stood out above the rest and give the viewers a chance to know exactly what they accomplished and who they are. December 2021 was the much-anticipated return of the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals, with the 24th edition of the event moving to a new date and new location. Nearly 500 karters from around the world converged on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway between December 1-5. It was 742 days between the SuperSunday of 2019 and the SuperSunday of 2021 with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the cancellation of the event in 2020. A part of history was made for SuperNationals 24 in Vegas thanks to Florida driver Jeremy Fletcher. The KA100 Junior division was added to the SKUSA SuperNationals in 2018, providing a second Junior category for competitors to take part. Fletcher was among those to pull double duty, and was near the front in both. The KA100 class began for Fletcher by qualifying sixth. The veteran charged forward in the opening two heats, driving to the win in both. He ended up third in the final heat race, securing the pole position for the main event on SuperSunday. Fletcher jumped out to the lead and sat there for the first 22 laps. As he led, Texas driver Helio Meza worked up to second and sat on his bumper. Meza pulled the trigger prior to receiving the white flag. On the final lap entering turn four, Fletcher fought back and was able to grab back the top position. The two made contact on the exit of turn four. Meza ended up smacking the wall, as Fletcher caught air from the impact with Helio. Fletcher continued while Meza was forced to retire. Jeremy went on to take the checkered flag, securing his first SuperNationals victory. That was only half the battle as Fletcher jumped in his X30 Junior OTK machine later in the day. Fletcher began the event by qualifying second overall in the category. Starting on the outside of the front row was a tough task, but Fletcher fought strong all three heat races. He finished the opener in third but was given a three-second penalty for blocking to drop him to seventh after posting fast lap of the race. Jeremy led the opening eight laps of Heat #2 yet ended up in third. Two separate penalties, including a pushback bumper, dropped him to 11th in the final classification. The third heat was another with Fletcher up front, this time crossing the line second and advancing up as the winner after penalties. All that action lined him up in fifth in the order on SuperSunday. It only took three laps before Fletcher took over the point in the 24-lap main event. Fighting behind him, along with consistent lap times in clean air helped to establish a solid lead. By the checkered flag, Fletcher created a four-second advantage for the victory. With a second victory on SuperSunday, Fletcher joined four-time SuperNationals winner Connor De Phillippi as the only driver to win two separate main events at the same SuperNats event. The two wins by Fletcher puts him halfway to the top of all-time win list that includes De Phillippi, Billy Musgrave, and Kip Foster – all with four victories at the SuperNationals. Prior to the calendar turning over, Fletcher made his official jump up to the Senior level at the World Karting Association Daytona KartWeek event, annually held during the December 28-30 time period at the Daytona International Speedway. Jeremy competed in the KA100 Senior division, qualifying second for Day 1 and Day 2 action during the timed sessions at the end of practice day. Fletcher came out and won the Day 1 Prefinal, securing the pole position for the main event. He led the first 14 laps before slipping to the second spot, where he would finish. During the Day 2 Prefinal, Jeremy slipped back to sixth on the opening lap, fighting back to third with fast lap of the race. Early shuffling opened the Final before Fletcher established himself as the race leader. He led 14 of the 16 laps to secure his first Senior victory. He also added one podium in the Briggs 206 class, placing third in the Final on Day 2. Fletcher makes history with EKN, becoming the second driver to be named Driver of the Month in the same year, having gained the honor back in March for his winning performances at the SKUSA Pro Tour WinterNationals and United States Pro Kart Series opener (Brent Crews earned honor twice in 2017). Fletcher is kicking off the 2022 season with double duty at the SKUSA Winter Series, sitting fourth in KA100 Senior standings thanks to a runner-up finish on Sunday and 14th in X30 Senior with a best result of fourth on Saturday, including fast lap of the race. He followed that up with a victory in the VLR Senior division at the Florida Winter Tour opener, also placing ninth in ROK Senior. Jeremy is slated to compete at the SKUSA Pro Tour, United States Pro Kart Series, IAME USA Grand National Championship and local club events in 2022. • Timely Pass Nets Fletcher Mazda MX-5 Cup Race Win at VIR | Jeremy Fletcher Raci

< Back Timely Pass Nets Fletcher Mazda MX-5 Cup Race Win at VIR IMSA Aug 24, 2025 Race 1 Results ALTON, Va. – Round 11 of the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin at VIRginia International Raceway was all about timing. The action-packed race had numerous off-course excursions leaving the drivers to wonder each time ‘are we going to go yellow?’ Jeremy Fletcher (No. 22 McCumbee McAleer Racing) timed his race perfectly, taking over the lead just before the final full-course caution that brought the race to an end. The Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup had already seen its share of incidents at VIR in the lead up to Saturday’s race. Two-time champion Gresham Wagner (No. 81 RAFA Racing by MMR) made contact with the wall in Turn 9 in qualifying, necessitating lots of repair work and new tires, putting him at the back of the grid. Another two-time champion, Jared Thomas (No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering) had an off-course excursion into the tire wall in qualifying as well. It happened before he could turn in a true flying lap, so he started an uncharacteristic 13th on the grid. Rookie Justin Adakonis (No. 23 McCumbee McAleer Racing) started from pole, but it was the BSI Racing teammates starting from the second row that worked together to take over the lead on the opening lap. Tyler Gonzalez (No. 57 BSI Racing) got a helpful push from teammate Westin Workman (No. 13 BSI Racing) that put Gonzalez into the lead and Workman second before the first full-course caution was issued. A second full-course caution came out very shortly after the race was restarted. Continuing his bad day, Thomas made hard contact with the wall in Turn Three where his race ended. When green flag racing resumed, the lead pack became a BSI Racing versus MMR battle. Working together, Gonzalez and Workman could pull away, until an MMR interloper crashed the party. This happened with less than 20 minutes to go as Nate Cicero (No. 83 McCumbee McAleer Racing) moved into second and briefly into the lead. He brought Fletcher with him, who also took his turn at the front, but Workman and Gonzalez were a formidable duo and he could not hold the spot for long. Fletcher took the lead again, in the Uphill Esses, with five minutes to go. As he did so a car came to a stop in Turn 17. The whole pitlane was fixated, waiting to see if the car would get going again or if the yellow flags would come out again. As the field entered the set of turns known as “Rollercoaster,” the safety car was deployed and the race effectively came to an end as there was only three and a half minutes left on the clock. Fletcher took the checkered flag behind the pace car. “I think Tyler [Gonzalez] and Weston [Workman] did a really good job of controlling the pack and keeping themselves at the front the entire time,” Fletcher said. “And I think the MMR side of that struggled, but I was just happy I could keep myself in that pack, keep the car cool and get it done in the end. Fletcher swept last year’s races at VIR and now continues that streak. “I don’t know (why I’m successful at this track),” Fletcher said. “The worst part is, it’s not even my favorite track, so maybe it should be. Everything kind of played in my favor there. I had good restarts. The McCumbee McAleer Racing, Simpson Racing Products, Paene Investments and Holster Store car was rolling this weekend for sure! Hopefully we can go four for four.” Previous Next
