- Fletcher crowned VIR king with fourth Virginian MX-5 Cup win in a row | Jeremy Fletcher Raci
< Back Fletcher crowned VIR king with fourth Virginian MX-5 Cup win in a row RACER Staff Aug 24, 2025 4 for 4 Sunday’s Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin race was a near repeat of Saturday’s, with Jeremy Fletcher (No. 22 McCumbee McAleer Racing) taking the win behind the safety car. Securing his fourth straight win at VIRginia International Raceway propelled Fletcher into the championship lead. Like Saturday’s race, a rookie started from pole: Helio Meza (No. 27 BSI Racing). The previous day’s polesitter, Justin Adakonis (No. 23 McCumbee McAleer Racing), started from last after swapping to a backup car. Fletcher had a tremendous start and was able to take over the lead on lap two, while Meza was busy trying to hold off Ethan Goulart (No. 29 Saito Motorsport Group). Fletcher had to hang on through two restarts from yellow, but was saved by the last full-course yellow, which brought the race to an end behind the safety car. “Sweeping the weekend for the second time was definitely a nice feeling,” Fletcher said. “I can't thank Dalton Dow enough for being on the radio with me, and he got me both these wins today, calling these cautions. I want to thank the entire McCumbee McAleer Racing crew. They've given me the fastest car all year, and I just got to turn the steering wheel and hit the brake pedal sometimes. I’m super thankful for all of them. This means a lot to me, especially getting the points lead. “I definitely owe Gresham [Wagner],” Fletcher added. “He should have probably won that race. He had the pace.” With only two more races to go, Fletcher now leads the points championship by 150 points and is that much closer to winning the $250,000 prize from Mazda. Previous Next
- JEREMY FLETCHER’S RACING RENAISSANCE: A TALE OF DETERMINATION IN THE MX-5 CUP | Jeremy Fletcher Raci
< Back JEREMY FLETCHER’S RACING RENAISSANCE: A TALE OF DETERMINATION IN THE MX-5 CUP Ashley Feb 28, 2024 Jeremy Fletcher’s inaugural year likely didn’t unfold as anticipated, marked by a few top-10 finishes without any standout performances. However, at the onset of the 2024 season opener for the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by Michelin, Fletcher made it clear that he aimed to surpass his 2023 championship standing. Securing third and second place at Daytona International Speedway’s January opener, Fletcher enters Rounds 3 and 4 at Sebring International Raceway on March 14-15, tied for the points lead with McCumbee McAleer Racing teammate Gresham Wagner. “The move definitely had a positive impact, both driving-wise and surrounding myself with teammates that are consistently at the front,” says Fletcher. “Working with Stevan and Stuart McAleer, Chad McCumbee and the whole team creates an atmosphere that is just amazing. And working with drivers like Nate Cicero, Gresham Wagner and John Jodoin on track, I feel like it has made it a more positive place for me to be at the race track.” Transitioning to a new team, accompanied by fresh teammates and a revitalized focus for his second MX-5 Cup season, 17-year-old Fletcher’s program has progressed significantly. “I’m definitely starting to work on myself personally,” he adds, “doing some training, going to the gym more actively and trying to be the best I can be when I show up. Plus getting as much testing and practice as I can.” Having spent considerable time in karting with numerous national-level championships before briefly participating in Spec Miata, Fletcher commenced his MX-5 Cup journey with Copeland Racing. However, with Copeland no longer competing, Fletcher shifted to McCumbee McAleer Racing, a move that, alongside the presence of other skilled drivers, has notably enhanced his performance. Moreover, Fletcher is fortunate that the initial two MX-5 Cup weekends occur at familiar tracks, Daytona and Sebring, where he has raced and tested extensively, hailing from St. Cloud, Fla., equidistant from both venues. Coming from a lineage of motocross racers, with his grandfather establishing the Ocala Gran Prix kart track, Jeremy’s trajectory was set early on. “It’s definitely great to be surrounded by all the IMSA teams. And it also lets you, I would say, explore your options a bit with who you could run with, or what your dreams may be,” he explains. “You can talk to those people and figure yourself out and what you want to race in the future.” Motivated by the prospect of Mazda scholarship funding, MX-5 Cup became his chosen path, undoubtedly influenced by his former karting teammate and 2022 Rookie of the Year, Connor Zilisch. Now setting his sights on sports car endurance racing, Jeremy sees his presence in the IMSA paddock as a stepping stone towards that goal, acknowledging MX-5 Cup’s role as an excellent training ground. Observing drivers like Zilisch and Wagner has been educational, but Jeremy believes that assertiveness on track is the key to victory this season, a mindset that paid dividends at Daytona. “If you don’t have the racecraft, you’re not really going to be up there,” he says. “The field is so tight — and especially with the draft at a place like Daytona — that you have to use quite a bit of strategy. And even if you really aren’t driving that great, or you have some problems, you can still be there strategically as long as you’re kind of controlling the field. If you get the racecraft good enough, then you can run up front even if you don’t have the best car or best pace.” With Sebring on the horizon, Jeremy aims to sustain his early-season momentum on the challenging terrain of the classic Florida road course’s fast and bumpy runways and turns. “Not get pushed around,” he says of the key to his newfound podium abilities. “I feel coming into Daytona I was a lot more abrupt, a lot more decisive — like, I would make a move and make sure it stuck and make sure the guys knew I was out there. Last year I was kind of nervous to make a move, or not make somebody so happy with a move I made. I feel like that would always put me in a bad spot, not going for the opening.” Previous Next
- Third Podium Of The Season At Sebring | Jeremy Fletcher Raci
< Back Third Podium Of The Season At Sebring RACER Staff Mar 15, 2024 “We definitely fell back at the start,” said Fletcher. “I thought I was personally falling off there and didn’t have the pace, but those cautions came out and I kind of got the motor temps down, tire temps down and went back hard after it and started moving up through the field. “This is definitely an amazing start to the year with three podiums. I can’t thank the MMR guys enough, my mechanic Dalton, the Holster Store, my grandparents for bringing me out here. Everybody that’s kind of helped me out with this. It was an unfortunate day yesterday, but glad that we come back today.” Previous Next

- eKartingNews.com Driver of the Month: December 2021 – Jeremy Fletcher | Jeremy Fletcher Raci
< Back eKartingNews.com Driver of the Month: December 2021 – Jeremy Fletcher Ekartingnews Jan 18, 2021 Florida driver becomes second ever to win twice on SuperSunday at SKUSA SuperNationals 24 Jeremy Fletcher was named EKN Driver of the Month for December 2021 after three wins on the month at two events In a continued effort to highlight the many outstanding performances by drivers around the country, eKartingNews.com is proud to introduce the ‘Driver of the Month’ program. Each month, the staff at EKN will determine the one driver who stood out above the rest and give the viewers a chance to know exactly what they accomplished and who they are. December 2021 was the much-anticipated return of the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals, with the 24th edition of the event moving to a new date and new location. Nearly 500 karters from around the world converged on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway between December 1-5. It was 742 days between the SuperSunday of 2019 and the SuperSunday of 2021 with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the cancellation of the event in 2020. A part of history was made for SuperNationals 24 in Vegas thanks to Florida driver Jeremy Fletcher. The KA100 Junior division was added to the SKUSA SuperNationals in 2018, providing a second Junior category for competitors to take part. Fletcher was among those to pull double duty, and was near the front in both. The KA100 class began for Fletcher by qualifying sixth. The veteran charged forward in the opening two heats, driving to the win in both. He ended up third in the final heat race, securing the pole position for the main event on SuperSunday. Fletcher jumped out to the lead and sat there for the first 22 laps. As he led, Texas driver Helio Meza worked up to second and sat on his bumper. Meza pulled the trigger prior to receiving the white flag. On the final lap entering turn four, Fletcher fought back and was able to grab back the top position. The two made contact on the exit of turn four. Meza ended up smacking the wall, as Fletcher caught air from the impact with Helio. Fletcher continued while Meza was forced to retire. Jeremy went on to take the checkered flag, securing his first SuperNationals victory. That was only half the battle as Fletcher jumped in his X30 Junior OTK machine later in the day. Fletcher began the event by qualifying second overall in the category. Starting on the outside of the front row was a tough task, but Fletcher fought strong all three heat races. He finished the opener in third but was given a three-second penalty for blocking to drop him to seventh after posting fast lap of the race. Jeremy led the opening eight laps of Heat #2 yet ended up in third. Two separate penalties, including a pushback bumper, dropped him to 11th in the final classification. The third heat was another with Fletcher up front, this time crossing the line second and advancing up as the winner after penalties. All that action lined him up in fifth in the order on SuperSunday. It only took three laps before Fletcher took over the point in the 24-lap main event. Fighting behind him, along with consistent lap times in clean air helped to establish a solid lead. By the checkered flag, Fletcher created a four-second advantage for the victory. With a second victory on SuperSunday, Fletcher joined four-time SuperNationals winner Connor De Phillippi as the only driver to win two separate main events at the same SuperNats event. The two wins by Fletcher puts him halfway to the top of all-time win list that includes De Phillippi, Billy Musgrave, and Kip Foster – all with four victories at the SuperNationals. Prior to the calendar turning over, Fletcher made his official jump up to the Senior level at the World Karting Association Daytona KartWeek event, annually held during the December 28-30 time period at the Daytona International Speedway. Jeremy competed in the KA100 Senior division, qualifying second for Day 1 and Day 2 action during the timed sessions at the end of practice day. Fletcher came out and won the Day 1 Prefinal, securing the pole position for the main event. He led the first 14 laps before slipping to the second spot, where he would finish. During the Day 2 Prefinal, Jeremy slipped back to sixth on the opening lap, fighting back to third with fast lap of the race. Early shuffling opened the Final before Fletcher established himself as the race leader. He led 14 of the 16 laps to secure his first Senior victory. He also added one podium in the Briggs 206 class, placing third in the Final on Day 2. Fletcher makes history with EKN, becoming the second driver to be named Driver of the Month in the same year, having gained the honor back in March for his winning performances at the SKUSA Pro Tour WinterNationals and United States Pro Kart Series opener (Brent Crews earned honor twice in 2017). Fletcher is kicking off the 2022 season with double duty at the SKUSA Winter Series, sitting fourth in KA100 Senior standings thanks to a runner-up finish on Sunday and 14th in X30 Senior with a best result of fourth on Saturday, including fast lap of the race. He followed that up with a victory in the VLR Senior division at the Florida Winter Tour opener, also placing ninth in ROK Senior. Jeremy is slated to compete at the SKUSA Pro Tour, United States Pro Kart Series, IAME USA Grand National Championship and local club events in 2022. With a colorful resume, drive to succeed and pure pace, I would be surprised if Jeremy was not in the Rookie of the Year hunt at the end of the 2023 season.” “I am excited to make the full-time move to cars and with a program such as Copeland Motorsports,” explained Jeremy Fletcher. “They have trained and advanced a lot of my former karting teammates, and I can’t wait to follow in their footsteps. A winner and champion in the cadet ranks of karting, Fletcher advanced to the junior ranks with ease continuing his winning ways. 2022 has seen another jump in categories as he moved to the senior categories, the upper echelon of karting in North America. - Fletcher charges to Mazda MX-5 Cup Race 1 win at Mid-Ohio | Jeremy Fletcher Raci
< Back Fletcher charges to Mazda MX-5 Cup Race 1 win at Mid-Ohio RACER Staff Jun 7, 2025 First Win Of The Season The halfway point of the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin season produced a championship points shakeup. Jeremy Fletcher (No. 22 McCumbee McAleer Racing) fought his way through the top five to take his first win of the season. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course wasn’t as kind to the points leader entering the weekend; Jared Thomas (No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering) made a mistake on the final lap that dropped him from a possible podium to 24th at the checkered flag. Rounds seven and eight were bound to produce some surprises when it was revealed that two-time Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Champion Gresham Wagner (No. 81 Rafa Racing Team by MMR) was entered for the first time since round two at Daytona. Wagner nearly qualified on pole in his series return but was pipped by 0.05s by Nate Cicero (No. 83 McCumbee McAleer Racing). It was the fourth pole of the year for Cicero, unfortunately for him, that spot seems to be cursed, because a driver has yet to win from pole this season. Cicero succumbed to the polesitter curse and lost power while running in podium position and eventually retired. Taking the lead on lap five, Wagner faced off against Thomas, the only other two-time series champion. The back-and-forth between the pair allowed Helio Meza (No. 27 BSI Racing), Fletcher and Nathan Nicholson (No. 56 Advanced Autosports) to catch up and turn the duel into a five-way fight for the lead. The pack played nice until 10 minutes to go, when things got spicy. First Meza and Nicholson came together in Turn Seven, resulting in Nicholson taking a ride through the grass and losing several positions. Then, on the final lap, Mesa gave Fletcher a helpful push down the back straight, nudging him past Wagner and into the lead. Two turns later, Thomas lost control of his car, slid into the gravel and exited the podium fight. Fletcher didn’t look back, cruising to the win by 0.882s. “The MMR crew have given me a car to win all year long,” Fletcher said. “This is almost like a do or die season for me financially. So I've been putting myself under a lot of stress, and I think that's been taking away from us and causing us to not finish very good, so, I went out there today, just tried to keep it clean and brought it home. I'm so thankful for the McCumbee McAleer guys, Simpson Racing Products, Paene Investments, and Whelen, Mazda, Flis Performance, everyone that gets us out here.” Previous Next
